EUROPEAN COMPUTER DRIVING LICENCE (ECDL)

The European Computer Driving LicenceĀ® (ECDL) is the internationally recognised qualification which enables people to demonstrate their competence in computer skills. The record breaking ECDL is the fastest growing IT user qualification in over 125 countries. We are proud to announce that NP is an approved testing centre for pupils in the school.

The ECDL is a test of practical skills and competencies and consists of seven separate modules covering computer theory and practice. Module 1 is a theoretical test of computing knowledge at a general level and Modules 2-7 are practical skills tests, as follows:

Concepts of Information Technology and Communication of Technology (ICT)
Using the Computer and Managing Files
Word Processing
Spreadsheets
Using Databases
Presentation
Web Browsing and Communication

When a candidate (a pupil Year 6 or above) registers with Northwood Prep. to start the ECDL certification, they will be provided with a course CD to progress through the seven tests. When all seven modules are completed, the Candidate receives the ECDL award and the BCS IT user level 1.

If a pupil wishes and is capable they may continue to complete as many modules as they wish before leaving NP. If they have not completed all the modules by the time of leaving NPS, these can be completed any time within the three years period to gain the full qualification.

For more details of course material - CD please telephone Mr Rice on (01923) 825648 or e-mail him at itcrice@northwoodprep.co.uk .
