Eco-Club |
|
An eco-club has been running for 2 years now and has proven very popular with the boys. The club runs after school every week for boys in Years 3 and 4. They meet after school every Tuesday and help Mrs Johnson do environmental jobs around the school, such as the ones listed below: * Paper recycling—Dan brings the paper to Mrs Johnson’s room every fortnight and the club help to sort the paper. They sort the paper into different piles and get it ready for collection by ‘Recycle For Learning.’ The paper is then taken to the Paper Mill in Hemel Hempstead where it is turned into more paper. They also help to sort all the paper from the staff room and place it in the relevant recycling bins. * Recycling Plastic Bottles—If they are not sorting out the paper they are squashing bottles and taking them to the recycling bins in the car park. * Wormery—The club help to check the wormery. As well as feeding the worms they check the acidity levels and give them the appropriate worm feed. * Bird Feeding Centre—The group check the bird feeding centre. They refill all the seed cages and check they are all stocked up.
